Meet Kate. Kate was born towards the end of December and was the first newborn I photographed for 2011. She is gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. Photographing newborns is one of my favorite things to do because it is so relaxing. It is a time where I can talk in a soft voice in a warm home with a calm/sleepy baby with no worries in the world. If I had high blood pressure, it would most definitely be lowered in the presence of a newborn. Most of my day/life is spent worrying and stressing about something (work, cleaning, my son, my husband, my business, my in-laws and parents, bills, etc). I am a worrier by nature and have not been able to relieve this tendency other than through prayer and photography...and the relief is only temporary before I manage to let another worry creep into my thoughts. Through prayer, I feel heard (really heard) and I get relief because Someone else can help ease my burdens and take my worries from me. Through photography, I feel calmness. Nothing else matters during those moments except me and what is seen through my lens. Nothing. I like photographing beautiful things. I like photographing blessed events. Hence, my favorite subjects are newborns (second to weddings). Kate is very blessed and she is very beautiful. Steve and Marianne, thank you so much for having me come over to share a moment with your new family. I am so happy for you both.
