Courtney and Nathan

While visiting my friend in Alexandria, Virginia, over Labor Day weekend, I was given the opportunity to practice "engagement" style photography. Courtney and Nathan plan to be married on Thanksgiving weekend of 2010. I love these two dear friends VERY much! It was great practice to work with them!

A tad bit of background: I went to college at Ball State originally as an Art Major--ended up with a degree in Sociology (long story). I have taken film classes in my past, but was more interested in drawing and painting at that time. I have always had an eye for composition and it wasn't until (get ready for a cliche moment!) my son was born that I discovered my love for photography. Truly though, children have a way of making you evaluate your life and find meaning in the things you do. I am happiest when I am making memories and being creative. I picked up my old film SLR and started playing around with that, then borrowed a little Canon Rebel DSLR and the rest is history. I have the camera in my hands everyday and am constantly striving to perfect and learn various techniques. I fell in love with the ability to use the light around me to create beautiful photographs for myself and others to treasure for years to come. The Rebel days are long gone, but it will sometimes make a debut from my bag when I am feeling nostalgic. :) Please consider {pbj photography} for your photographic needs.
